“Being elite is wanting to do what you have to do.” – PJ Fleck, University of Minnesota head football coach
We go through periods where we are engaged. We are excited. We approach our work with enthusiasm. We bust our ass. We get things done.
Safe. Housekeeping is great. Numbers are rising. We see results.
Then complacency creeps in. We quit doing the little things. Performance slips. We slow down our steps. Boredom replaces excitement. Engagement wanes.
And you look around and wonder what happened.
Fleck’s quote says it all. You can be good, when you put your mind to it. You can be elite, when putting your mind to what you do all the time. Because it’s your heart’s desire.
Since 2005, he has been sharing his thoughts on the organization, leadership, and communication in an online daily note to teammates called Daily with HQ.
