I saw this in my reading.
Three simple rules:
1. If you don’t ever go after it, you’ll never get it.
2. If you don’t ever ask, the answer will always be no.
3. If you do not step forward, you always will be in the same place.
Pretty simple advice. It’s a good personal inventory. All three behaviors are “happening to the world.”
What are you “going” for right now? Trying to set a record? Learn something new? Get out of debt? Striving for a better lifestyle? So many folks in life wish for better outcomes but they remain in the safety zone hoping it will happen. You gotta “go” if you want to change for the better.
What do you need to “ask” that you are staying quiet about? Fear keeps people from asking. If I ask, I might not like the answer. If I ask, they might think I’m dumb. If I ask, they might get irritated. All of those things happen. In the Bible it says “you have not because you ask not”. Develop your asking technique. Build up your asking muscle.
Where do you need to take the next step? My understanding is that it is impossible to stay in the same place. If you aren’t getting better, you’re getting worse.
Think earnestly every day what step forward you should be taking. Go for it. Today.
