Our colleague Casey Fletcher sent this to me. He harvested it from an old file. We’ve been working together for 40-plus years. We saw this quote in our early days as teammates. It resonated then. It resonates now.
“In Africa, every morning a gazelle awakens knowing that it must outrun the fastest lion if it wants to stay alive”
“Every morning, a lion wakes up knowing it must run faster than the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.”
Moral of the story:
“It makes no difference whether you are a gazelle or a lion, when the sun comes up, you had better be moving fast.”
There’s competition chasing us, and there are competitors we chase. The agile and purposeful succeed.
Since 2005, he has been sharing his thoughts on the organization, leadership, and communication in an online daily note to teammates called Daily with HQ.
