The PalletOne safety revolution continued at the inaugural Safety Summit in Bartow, Fla., as safety professionals from across the country gathered for two days of planning, training and culture-building that can unite each PalletOne plant behind a singular safety vision.
Hosted by Regional Safety Director Burton Fisher, day one of the event saw an examination of the day-to-day role of a safety coordinator, and deep dives on accident investigation, workers comp reporting and OSHA record keeping, before a refresher on Lock-Out Tag-Out documentation, Green Files, and a series of hands-on trainings.
“I’ve seen how well PalletOne takes care of their employees,” said Tara Hodges, who recently joined the Shipshewana plant as a safety pro. “Offering this kind of training shows that safety is such a huge priority. I’m proud to be a part of the PalletOne Safety Team.”
The second morning kicked off with a briefing by Safety Pro Freddie Reyna followed by a series of hands-on demonstrations at the Bartow Plant that covered everything from forklift inspection to recent safety initiatives like the two-handed nail guns and machine guarding initiative, to an in-depth inspection of a saw that had been specially (and safely!) rigged with some common errors that can lead to injury.
In his closing remarks, Regional Vice President Matt Sheffield hammered home a key point for the summit: “What matters most is building relationships, using our resources, and adopting a genuine, absolute care for our employees. At the end of the day, that’s how we will get the complete buy-in we need to flip our script and move the needle to keep our people safe.”
