You want to be a legitimate leader?
- Those on your team need to know they have a say. They need to know they can ask questions, make suggestions, and propose ideas. And when they do, they need to be confident they will be heard and respected.
- Second, you have to be predictable, minimize drama, and make the problem the task. If the team doesn’t know how the leader will respond, they will hold back.
- Finally, you need to have a record of “fairness.” There are no favorites. The best ideas win. Penalties and rewards are allocated appropriately.
Legitimate leaders are open. They are predictable. They are fair.
