I was moving some furniture this weekend. One piece was an antique pedestal table with a separate marble top.
Knowing the top and bottom were unattached, we lifted it onto the open truck bed in one piece. My thought was that the marble was heavy and would probably stay in place.
You know the story, right? When I reached my destination, the tabletop was gone. I retraced the path and found it broken in the road.
The review of the process was humbling. I could have just as easily removed the top, as not. It would have taken less than five seconds to place it separately in the bed of the truck.
It made me think of all of you. There are times every day when you have choices like I had. You can prevent injury or accident or not. It takes no time. It just takes awareness.
Choose prevention, please—every time.
