SAFE PALLETS

Several years ago, there was a news story about an incident that occurred in a Sam’s Club warehouse in Colonial Heights, Va. Cases of water fell from a pallet rack onto a four-year-old boy walking down the aisle. The boy was carried from the store, alert and crying. We hope he recovered well.

The image of a spilled pallet of goods falling from the sky onto a child should remind us that we are in the “safety” business. Our customers expect our pallets to be securely fastened together, constructed with sound lumber, and able to bear the weight of the load they are designed to handle.

For us, it’s not just getting the pallets onto the truck and out the door. We are accountable for ensuring that our pallets will do the job they were created for. The safety of the families in the communities we serve depends on it.

Ensuring safe pallets is everyone’s job. It is not an assignment relegated to “quality control” or “plant management.” If you see one or more pallets that aren’t right, sound the alarm! Let’s get it right before someone is hurt.
