Geno Auriemma is a Hall of Fame coach at UConn. Saw a clip where he described his players.
- Talented – Very talented. The program’s success allows them to chase the best players. People expect UConn to chase All-Americans.
- Unselfish – He knows they are talented. He’s looking for the character which shows that individual talent gets subordinated for the sake of others.
- Great Teammate – The behavior of a good teammate is encouragement, support, and grace in the face of hardship. Teams overcome talent. Talented teams win championships.
Finally, “They have to be able to pass. We have a team of All-Americans. Someone is always going to be open. If you can’t get the ball to the open player, we have a problem. If you won’t get the ball to the open player, we have a problem.”
Talent. Selflessness. Teammate. Knowing every situation has the “best” person for the job.
