Servant leadership is a term that we use quite a bit. I heard Pastor Andy Stanley sermonizing on the topic.
He said servant leaders share three common characteristics:
They are humble. They have the kind of humility that allows them to defer to the best solution rather than depend on their own. They attract talented people by giving them freedom to explore.
They are ambitious for the team. In their leadership, they demonstrate that the team matters. Team success comes before individual success.
They have a high motor for progress. They assess and decide. They experiment and evaluate. They happen to the world through activity.
Since 2005, he has been sharing his thoughts on the organization, leadership, and communication in an online daily note to teammates called Daily with HQ.
