Servant leadership is a term that we use quite a bit. I heard Pastor Andy Stanley sermonizing on the topic.
He said servant leaders share three common characteristics:
- They are humble. They have the kind of humility that allows them to defer to the best solution rather than depend on their own. They attract talented people by giving them freedom to explore.
- They are ambitious for the team. In their leadership, they demonstrate that the team matters. Team success comes before individual success.
- They have a high motor for progress. They assess and decide. They experiment and evaluate. They happen to the world through activity.
Where do you stand on these leadership traits?
